The Legacy of Government Laboratory High School Mymensingh
Government Laboratory High School in Mymensingh is a prominent educational institution in Bangladesh. The school is situated on a 27.5-acre campus, which includes the historic Alexander Castle, also known as Lohar Kuthir, built in 1879 by Maharaja Surya Kanta Acharjya of the Muktagacha zamindar family.
On November 15, 1948, the Teachers’ Training College, along with an experimental school, was established on this site. Initially, the experimental school offered education up to the 5th grade. Due to the dedicated efforts of the Mymensingh Town School Implementation Committee, the experimental school was upgraded to a high school on December 24, 1987, and was officially named Government Laboratory High School, Mymensingh.
The school operates in two shifts: the morning shift for girls and the day shift for boys. It offers classes from grades 1 to 10, following the National Curriculum and Textbook Board of Bangladesh. The institution is known for its academic excellence, co-curricular activities, and significant contributions to the educational and cultural sectors of the Mymensingh district.
